School of Science, MFU Welcomes Professor Yong-Song Chen from National Chung Cheng University (CCU), Taiwan, to Advance International Learning and Academic Collaboration

The School of Science at Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) continues to promote international learning and academic collaboration under the MFU Visiting Scholars Project for the 2026 fiscal year. The School was honored to welcome Professor Yong-Song Chen from National Chung Cheng University (CCU), Taiwan, to teach, exchange knowledge, and conduct research with faculty members and students from August 15–28, 2026.

In terms of academic instruction, Professor Chen imparted his expertise to Materials Engineering students in the courses Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Materials, Sustainable Materials, and the Materials Engineering Seminar. He shared valuable academic insights and international experiences, with a particular focus on establishing foundational knowledge in electrochemistry for applications in the semiconductor industry. This significantly broadened the students' perspectives on current trends in materials technology.

Furthermore, this visit served as an excellent opportunity to elevate research collaboration and knowledge exchange. Professor Chen collaborated on research with the Center of Innovative Materials for Sustainability (CIMS), provided academic advising to students, and participated as a committee member for research proposal examinations. These activities effectively bridged classroom theory with practical application while enhancing the students' potential for future graduate studies.

The establishment of a long-term research network with National Chung Cheng University (CCU) also fosters joint research initiatives, facilitates overseas training programs for students, and encourages co-publications in leading international journals. It provides a platform for MFU faculty and students to build robust partnerships, potentially leading to institutional Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and joint applications for international research grants.

Ultimately, this Visiting Scholars initiative stands as a crucial mechanism in strengthening the International Outlook of the School of Science. By inviting global experts to co-develop instructional methodologies, research initiatives, and student capabilities, the School continues to elevate its educational quality and create sustainable academic opportunities on an international scale.
